Definition of cookies.
– Cookies are small text files that the sites visited send to the browser used by the user for navigation and in which they are stored to be retransmitted to the same sites on the next visit made by the user with the same device.Their use is for different purposes: performing computer authentication, monitoring sessions, storing information on specific configurations set by the user (e.g. language), etc.

Another important distinction must be made according to the purpose served by cookies:

Purpose and legal basis of the processing.
